"It’s an exciting, ever-evolving world to be part of – one where you’re trusted with your own responsibilities."
I’d always wanted to pursue a career in the Civil Service. But I was drawn here in particular because I liked the fact that this is an international, far-reaching organisation with unique customer relationships. It’s an exciting, ever-evolving world to be part of – one where you’re trusted with your own responsibilities.
I think one of the most interesting things about my Business Administration Apprenticeship is supporting on strategic account planning sessions. When I’m not doing that, I’ll be helping to develop internal and external stakeholder relationships and supporting the Account Manager.
"What’s great is being able to clearly see how my work fits into my team’s objectives, the department’s wider work, and the whole organisation."
Other times, my days are defined by government change. For example, after the announcement of the merger between the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Department for International Development, my work was reprioritised to focus on researching anticipated changes to strategy.
What’s great is being able to clearly see how my work fits into my team’s objectives, the department’s wider work, and the whole organisation. Looking ahead, I want to keep progressing, build up my skills and focus on my professional development – all things that FCDO Services really encourage and help you achieve."
